Nautical Montauk

Waking up in the Hampton’s sounds extremely fancy but it was in fact, down to earth and quaint. We rented a cabin on Airbnb.com ( my favorite site to source great places to stay ). Going to Montauk has always been a place on my list because every since I saw Eternal sunshine for the Spotless Mind which is one of my favorite movies, I’ve been set on going. Besides the quite windy day we had, the cold air didn’t bother us too much, as the scenery was just as breath taking as I had imagined it would be.

Puerto Rico, beach day

So we were having a Piña Coloda at Barrachina, and because we didnt have enough time to go to Culebra’s Flamenco beach, we were asking the locals if they had some recommendations on where to go. Our waiter was insistent that we check out Mar Bella Beach for its smooth and crystal clear water perfect for a relaxing beach day. He got a paper place mat and began vigorously writing down the directions. Once he was done and began explaining we realized none of these directions had street names and we also couldn’t map it on our gps. But we were up for the adventure!

We got in our “Jello” rental car and headed out.

We took a wrong turn somewhere and found a beautiful family of wild horses. They were just hanging out by the beach! They all started to stare of us when we decided to get out of the car and take a few pics. San Juan, Puerto Rico | The Lovely Tourist

After getting out of the car to see the horses, this was our view.

We turned back around and headed to find out missed turn and arrive at Mar Bella Beach. Water as smooth as ice while on the other side of the rocks , extremely powerful crashing waves.

Calm waters on one side and roaring waves on the other. We climbed the rocks in our flip flops to see what was on the other side ( pictured in the middle ).

San Juan, Puerto Rico | The Lovely TouristAfter spending a few hours there, we went to Marchiquita beach just a few miles down the road, which while incredibly beautiful had currents that would sweep you away if you weren’t careful. I’m not sure if it’s like that all the time or just the day that we were there, but it’s probably the strongest currents I’ve ever felt.

Go to Platos just 3 mins walking from the Hotel. The BEST Mofongo you’ll ever have in your life.

Pretty worn out from all the beaching and Mosquito bites. Of course I get a bite on my LIP!

We spent the next day at the pool, trying to soak up our last rays before this short trip was over.
